PEN PAL CLUBS

Pen Pal Club Conditions
These apply to both the free Pen Pal Club and the paid Airmail Club. By joining, you agree to them.
Who can join
- You must be 18 or older.
- We're open to the US only for now. International is coming soon.
- One membership per person, and one pen pal at a time.
How matching works
- We match you mostly by how often you like to write, then by shared interests.
- We'll try to match everyone within 3 weeks.
- Free members: once you're matched, we email you your pen pal's name and address, and they get yours. You write to each other directly.
- Paid members: we forward your letters back and forth, so you never exchange addresses.
- If your pen pal stops writing, tell us and we'll match you with someone new.
Being a good pen pal
- Write a real letter. Handwritten is best, and a few sentences is fine, but a blank card isn't.
- Write back within a few weeks. Life gets busy, so if you'll be away, say so in your letter.
- Tell your pen pal about yourself. Share what you do, what you like, and what's going on in your week. Ask questions so there's something to answer.
- Write at the pace you signed up for. If you say you'll write every week, write every week.
- Be kind. You don't have to agree with each other, but be respectful.
- If you need to stop writing, say goodbye in a last letter instead of disappearing.
Letter rules
- Letters must be standard size, 1 ounce or less, in a standard envelope.
- Paper letters and flat cards only. No cash, gift cards, checks, food, liquids, or anything hazardous.
- Every letter needs a stamp. Free members stamp letters to their pen pal. Paid members stamp letters to us, and we pay the postage to forward them.
Never ask for money or help
- You can never ask your pen pal for money, gifts, favors, or help of any kind.
- No selling, promoting, fundraising, or recruiting.
Privacy
- Free members: your pen pal will have your name and address. We strongly advise getting and using a PO Box instead of your home address.
- Free members: when you give out your address, you take on the responsibility for sharing it. We match you with other members, but we don't screen them and can't control what they do with your information. Curated Paper Co. and Lilly Finch LLC are not responsible for anything that happens as a result of sharing your address.
- Paid members: your pen pal never sees your address, and you never see theirs. Don't put your own address in your letters, and don't try to find out theirs.
- Everyone: never share your pen pal's name, address, or anything they tell you with anyone else.
Not allowed
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discrimination.
- Sexual or explicit content.
- Anything illegal.
- Pressuring your pen pal to keep writing or to move to other ways of contacting you.
If something goes wrong
- Email us with any problems and we'll help.
- We can end a membership or remove anyone who breaks these rules.
Paid club billing
- The Airmail Club is $16 a month, billed monthly.
- Cancel anytime.
- We pay the postage to forward your letters to your pen pal.
